It is a wearable artwork — an upcycled denim gilet covered in hand-painted imagery, studio-applied patches, graffiti lettering and acrylic paint work, assembled and finished by hand in London. Q: Is this a one-off piece or can it be reproduced?
A: The PHOENIX as photographed is a single piece — the painted composition, patch layout and graffiti positioning are unique to this garment. If you want a commission in a similar spirit, contact us to discuss a bespoke gilet at the same tier.
Q: How is the paint sealed on the denim?
A: All painted areas are finished with a textile sealant applied in-studio. The finish is durable for regular wear but dry cleaning is required — machine washing will degrade the paint surface over time.
Q: What does the Couture tier mean at Skinner & Vale?
A: Couture pieces are garments where the majority of the labour is hand-craft — painting, patching, stud-setting — rather than construction. They represent the most time-intensive work we produce and are priced to reflect that.
